Padre Island is a world class birding area. Bird Island
Basin on North Padre Island near Corpus Christi is home to over 350 species of birds. The island is located on the Central
Flyway, a superhighway for migrating birds. Terns, gulls, herons, pelicans, egrets, cranes, hawks and many other species
are common. The island is also a prime nesting area for Kemps Ridley sea turtles. Coyotes, black-tailed rabbits and lizards
can also be found on Padre Island. The new Packery Channel offers great fishing for Speckled Trout, Redfish and other species.
